@catrandy I find it interesting that you are being down voted when people are discussing their own optimal zone for weight and 119 at 5'4" is in the healthy range BMI as is the range you posted.

Can I achieve a better aesthetic with body weight exercises only?

@pamray62 Absolutely!! I am working with a PT on an old leg injury, next year will be knees! At this point 'leg day" is my PT routine. Better than nothing.

Can I achieve a better aesthetic with body weight exercises only?

@pamray62 Thanks, yeah I am 47 and am dealing with sore joints and pain. I love lifting but may have to adjust and modify to a different workout.

@pamray62 That's what a recomp is, you are changing the composition of your body to more muscle/less fat without changing body weight. You will definitely get there with your rate of progress.

@zastari Sure thing! I get a bit frustrated as well. If we can get through to one person, it's a win! Have a great weekend

Can I achieve a better aesthetic with body weight exercises only?

@pamray62 This is solid advice OP and second for recommending the TDEE spreadsheet. If it was up to me I would be eating around 1400-1500 to lose 1lb per week. But using the spreadsheet I know I can eat up to 1700/day to lose. That's a nice bump. I just takes a few weeks to calibrate what your...

@pamray62 Yes exactly, my body fat is in the 21-22% range. As you build more muscle your tdee will increase.

@zastari I agree, especially in the fitness subs. LoseIt is a weight-loss sub, so there may be people that underestimate their portions and overestimate their activity, but it still doesn't make sense to me.

The answer to all the “why am I not losing weight?” posts

@zastari I remember this one person specifally, might have been in xxfitness. They were basically training like an athlete and complaining of hunger, lack of energy, the usual. Come to find out, they set their tdee to sedentary - WHY??? They were so adamant about it, too. I hope they figured it...

@pamray62 Thanks!! Also after I wrote that I realized that body fat % also plays a factor in calorie intake, don't be surprised when you build more muscle and your intake increases too. Great progress, and again thanks for sharing!

@zastari Setting the tdee to sedentary when someone is active is terrible advice. I'm not sure why this is being downvoted. I see this all of the time. People complain that they are hungry and have no energy, and then when probed further, they admit that they set their TDEE to sedentary when...

@supernova1044 Bullshit, best shape for me was 47. I had some health issues but am working to get back in my 50s

@butterfly2222 It's still not good advice. If I set my tdee as sedentary but worked out 1.5 hours 5 days a week. The calorie recommendation is going to be much lower than energy needs and possibly prevent the person from working out or moving more during the day since they can be tired and...

@arqo I just checked this out - thanks for sharing, my cal counting app is going kaput next month and am looking for a replacement.

@pamray62 Thank you for sharing. This is really inspiring, our stats are similar and I started to recomp June 2019. Mine will go a lot slower since my workout program is not that heavy due to rehabbing injuries, and taking the rest of this year easy to heal. So while I still exercise 5-6 days a...

@butterfly2222 That hasn't been my experience. It's usually pretty accurate when I put in my activity.
