Body weight DOES translate to lifting gains

@donw1245 Maxing out on dl this coming week gonna try to hit 405lbs then run a marathon right after lol. I don’t max on squat ever, just high reps, but the other day I did 185lbs for 35 reps, and bench same thing I don’t max since getting shoulder surgery but last I tried was 245lb put up no...

Body weight DOES translate to lifting gains

@donw1245 Not yet because if I’m gonna try maxing my lifts I want to spread them out so I’m not tired for my priorities (being the high reps) I’m interested tho. I never really benched much most I got was 250 lbs and then 325 squat so we’ll see

Body weight DOES translate to lifting gains

@vincentcross A lot of people said I was gonna get rhabdomyolysis where your muscle breakdown and yoy have kidney damage. I’m like stfu no I won’t. There are days I do double of everything if I know I’m gonna miss the next day and it’s still not a factor. Mike Tyson used to do like 1500 squats...

Body weight DOES translate to lifting gains

@busmcgusterblus That’s a really good question, I’m not sure. What do you use to measure it?
  5. R

Body weight DOES translate to lifting gains

@piper7 Correct. Generally for push ups and pull ups it’s sets of 25 and 12 respectively. Want to increase those numbers therefore decrease total sets per workout

Body weight DOES translate to lifting gains

@coog As the year goes on I want to reduce number of sets per workout dramatically

Body weight DOES translate to lifting gains

@thispoorman I’m not doing any planning other than I want to reduce number of sets as time goes on. I do variations of each like feet elevated or diamond, sumo squats, regular squats or narrows squats and then pull up/chin-up/muscle up. My diet is eat when I’m hungry no counting calories...

Body weight DOES translate to lifting gains

@thispoorman That’s so savage. I want to do 100,000 push ups and squats and 50,000 pull ups. My last ultramarathon ruined my body so I decided to quit running and higher reps calisthenics keeps me happy

Body weight DOES translate to lifting gains

@coog Most of the time I do them all in one 1 hr session. I get squats out of the way first….just recently started doing a 200 rep set then a 100 rep set. DONE. Then I do sets of 25 push ups and 12 pull ups back and forth til I’m done.

Body weight DOES translate to lifting gains

@dawn16 That’s what I love to hear! So funny when people say “well yeah no shit you can do a lot of pull ups you’re small” then I throw on a 45lb plate and still do more pull ups than them lmao!

Body weight DOES translate to lifting gains

@reallyconfused0512 I’ve been doing high reps for several years, I wouldn’t recommend a beginner do it

Body weight DOES translate to lifting gains

@vetpharmtech I have a lot of background in high rep stuff anyway so to answer your question…yes, and it’s volume lol. That’s the reason I got into body weight stuff is I wanted my tendons and ligaments to grow/strengthen in conjunction with my muscles and that’s been years in the making. I...

Body weight DOES translate to lifting gains

@elachavez84 Yeah there’s an accountability factor to going to the gym. The act of getting ready and driving there makes it easier to do when I’m there. Same as me preferring to not work from home. I live in a tiny house tho it’s 240sq ft so it’s tight at home anyway

Body weight DOES translate to lifting gains

@macoon13 The best part is everyone at gym knows I do 99% bw stuff then I pull that and they’re like shiiiiiit

Body weight DOES translate to lifting gains

@tallen24 Two feet on the ground squats. Various foot placements. Also do pistols with weights every couple days

Body weight DOES translate to lifting gains

@dawn16 100% agree. My buddy joined me the other day and did 1 set of 100 squats. Then he did his own thing in another part of the gym. 10 mins pass and I get a text in our friend group chat “if you want to puke at 7 in the morning do a workout with Jaymz”

Body weight DOES translate to lifting gains

@jhoke Yeah originally I wanted to do 109,500 of push ups and squats and then 54,750 pull ups. But dropped the numbers to 100,000 and 50,000

Body weight DOES translate to lifting gains

    @jhoke Nice workout journal!

Body weight DOES translate to lifting gains

@arteytheatheist We’ll see! I’ve done high rep stuff for the last 4 years anyway just kicking it up a notch this year

Body weight DOES translate to lifting gains

@arteytheatheist Yeah a lot of people have said that, it’s an everyday thing though cause my goal for 2022 is to do 100,000 push ups 100,00 squats and 50,000 push ups. Or whatever the math is for doing it everyday
