Beginner's Guide to Watching and Understanding Artistic Gymnastics, Rings Events

@stonesoffire OP, your English is flawless. I've read posts by native English speakers that I didn't understand.

YOU WHO CAN PLANCHE: What was you training plan?

@praylove OP, have you filmed your 3-4s straddle front lever? I can hold 'full' front lever for 10s, but when I filmed myself, I was only holding a proper front lever for 2s, after which my elbows were not perfectly straight and my hips piked. What I'm saying is that your anecdotal evidence...

Coach Sommer Spoke To Dr. McGill About J-Curls

@aamyggirl Yes, it would be good to get an idea of the rough proportion of people who get injured from Jefferson Curls. We kind of have that data for one arm chins on this sub. If I recall correctly, Bruce Lee blew his back with weighted good mornings, so that's not exactly a 'safe alternative'

Coach Sommer Spoke To Dr. McGill About J-Curls

@aamyggirl Anecdotally, my hamstring flexibility has improved from even sporadic, 1-2 times a week, Jefferson curls. Toes to bar are quite easy now in terms of passive flexibility. I don't know what the move is called, but when I was doing in-room cardio, I would sit on the floor, roll on to...

YOU WHO CAN PLANCHE: What was you training plan?

@praylove As someone who canNOT do the full planche, I hope my advice is still valid. OP, you really want to know how far you are away from planche? Buy a pulley and set up a counterweight dream machine. This method has brought me from 16s tucked planche to 3s 1leg advanced tucked planche in...

Coach Sommer Spoke To Dr. McGill About J-Curls

@dawn16 How much of a straddle? Would it be the weighted equivalent of a pancake stretch? Why/when straddle vs piked Jefferson curl?

@deborah123 I know what you mean. I find a tendency to rotate, but I thought I was 'exploring RoM'. If I try to put 50/50 bw per foot, even on the tip-toed one, the rotation is reduced. Would you have any input on doing that instead?

Concept Wednesday - The Minimalist Routine

@davecb Thanks for the post, Edmond (can I call you Edmond?)! For lunges, instead of forward lunges, maybe you'd consider changing them to Reverse Lunges to reduce shearing stress on the knees? For the core component, maybe a rotating plank (plank -> side plank -> reverse plank -> side plank...

Coach Sommer Spoke To Dr. McGill About J-Curls

@philip1979 Nice post! I was worried because I just recently started doing them and was approaching the 20kg 'limit'. As an aside, has anyone had experience with one-legged Jefferson curls? You would tip-toe the non-working leg. For a given weight, the stretch on the straight leg is much more...
