“Renaissance periodization has jumped the shark” - Alex Bromley. Any thoughts on this video?

@alexandria281 Really? So you think that because Lance took PEDs, he can’t coach you to be faster on a bicycle…Bodybuilding is a freaking sport with judges looking at certain criteria. You think GVS knows a lot about that criteria? He knows how to work out and build muscle, great coach for...

“Renaissance periodization has jumped the shark” - Alex Bromley. Any thoughts on this video?

@kanyen You really want to get big fast or build muscle so you have a chance (or perception of a chance at procreation) u get big by eating a lot, eat whatever, fat is best cause it’s fast. Thats not going to pass your genes on. That’s about as far away from bodybuilding as it can be. No...

“Renaissance periodization has jumped the shark” - Alex Bromley. Any thoughts on this video?

@kanyen Then create a channel - I want to look good and help me. That’s all you want, formula to do that is unbelievably simple. You do not need to bodybuild! You just need to work out a bit and don’t get fat or skinny. It’s so freaking easy if you actually have the mindset but if you don’t then...

“Renaissance periodization has jumped the shark” - Alex Bromley. Any thoughts on this video?

@alexandria281 The issue is that the novices are mixing up more advanced techniques with the basics. Lift, don’t skip workouts, in 4-5 yrs you will be freaking jacked compared to people that don’t lift. Do basic shit like starting strength for 2-3 yrs then add some isolation stuff for...

“Renaissance periodization has jumped the shark” - Alex Bromley. Any thoughts on this video?

@tennille Yea, same as weightlifting right? You lift weights so you can snatch, clean and jerk because you lift weights right? No one would call Bromley or GVS weightlifters…they lift weights. They are not capable of competing in those sports at a decent level. GVS doesn’t have a clue what it’s...

“Renaissance periodization has jumped the shark” - Alex Bromley. Any thoughts on this video?

@tennille Yea, but aren’t they in here to learn about the sport? I wouldn’t go to a CrossFit forum to learn to Olympic lift nor would I come here to learn how to powerlift. All lift weights. I honestly wouldn’t go to Dr Mike if I wanted to turn pro - he is actually more mainstream and his...

Lateral Raises at the end of every workout

@patdude832 I used to do them a lot, 3-4x a week, they barely get sore. But if you do them with cables, I think you need less volume, especially if you do the Egyptian lateral raise variation. Once you think they are aesthetically pleasing, then tone down volume. Get 2nd opinion on how they look...

“Renaissance periodization has jumped the shark” - Alex Bromley. Any thoughts on this video?

@tennille No shows, no experience with actual judges criticizing his body. That’s bodybuilding right? Or you just talking about working out. Bodybuilding to me is the sport, same as powerlifting, strongman, weightlifting etc.

“Renaissance periodization has jumped the shark” - Alex Bromley. Any thoughts on this video?

@lovely_krystal86 Meh, GVS is not a bodybuilder, Bromley is really a strength guy..Mike and Feather prolly favor too much on the slow/stretch stuff. I just work out and do shit that feels like it hurts and then recovers before my next workout. Works good. Also run…Maybe kinda do moderate shit we...

Are weighted pull ups even worth it?

@vinod367 Honestly, it gets boring after awhile if you are adding reps. The first few reps are just tedious after a while. I do want some lower rep work and adding weight works. Also, the people Mike train are usually freaking heavy.

    Small waist

@schubert Eh, the width of hip bones will dictate how small your waist can get. Fat and muscle go out from there. Unless you are fat or really train your obliques, the size of your waist is pretty static (relatively speaking).

PSA: if you workout in a small secluded gym, don’t do supersets and hog 2-3 machines

@aeri20 You superset based on the equipment! If you are on the squat rack, you squat and superset inverted rows…or overhead press and inverted rows, dumbbell bench and one arm db rows…only selfish assholes take 2 or more machines

Whats your normal rep drop off between sets? Does it change for each exercise? Interested to hear if this varies for different people

@lovely_krystal86 Exercises later in the session can experience more drop off…This is prolly why there are recommendations for total volume/sets per workout. You’re just tired… Biggest factor is probably how hard the set before was pushed.

    App for ideal progress

@irishkid777 Hmm, this is bodybuilding right? A xlb flat bench doesn’t translate to a y lb incline press or x lb cable flye. A 500 lb squat doesn’t guarantee nice looking quads or glutes… It’s a feel thing and the progression is unbelievably simple..add reps or weight workout to workout, week...

Been training for years and on the verge of giving up due to lack of progress, what should I do?

@barefoothannahb Get a coach, not the online version but someone that will interact with you at a personal level and watch you lift and talk to you about goals. You are obviously missing‘something’. A good coach will talk to you and help you figure it out and you will learn if you want to push...
