6 MONTHS PROGRESS - No before photo :(

@cece_lee16 Deadlifts are just great to get fucking strong in general. The feeling of lifting a bar of 150 kg and then standing there chest up and proud just makes you feel like an absolute hulk. The gyms just reopened here and I went for the second time today. Really missed lifting weights. I...

6 MONTHS PROGRESS - No before photo :(

@cece_lee16 First of all, welcome and congratulations with your first 6 months of awesome progress. Secondly, if you’re looking for suggestions, here’s a few: Buy rings. Best purchase in my life. It’s so much fun to train with rings and there is an unlimited list of possible exercises that are...

    Can barely do pushups solved!

@sophiaofthemoonlight Just try to experiment a bit. What is your body doing? Why are certain muscles firing? Flex your lats really hard right now. What do you feel? I personally experience my shoulders going down immediately. And all of a sudden they’re much more locked in place. That’s exactly...

    Can barely do pushups solved!

@sophiaofthemoonlight Why would you want to stop using your lats? Your lats are an extremely important muscle for all sorts of things. Their main function is adduction — pulling your arms to your side — which is exactly what you are doing if you want to keep your elbows from flaring out in the...

    Can barely do pushups solved!

@pastorjeff2u Yep, shoulders back and down. That’s how you activate the chest. Shoulders forward and down is also fine, but that’s more of a pseudo-planche push up. Takes way more delt strength. Whatever you do, never let your shoulders go up (towards your ears). Always pull them down.

I finally achieved the muscle up at age 38. It’s never too late!

@cr0cus These steps were how I finally achieved the muscle-up after lots and lots of failure: Get angry and look at the bar as if you are going to murder it. Start a little bit behind the bar, not directly under it. Jump forward to the bar. Catch with slightly bent arms and activated...

If you are tall or heavy don't lose hope - full planche at 202cm 102kg/6'7 225lbs and other feats by heavyweight calisthenics athletes

@thomaslowrens Yes, I was actually convinced that for me the full planche would probably be unattainable, maybe even impossible, as I’d never seen anyone of my height do one. So it’s lovely to see a real 2 metre guy who is also heavy do a full planche. I will still probably never achieve it...

Mark Rippetoe's chin-up protocol for fixing Golfers Elbow

@redverse Yes, it just feels much more stable that way.

@thomaslowrens Awesome post. As a 2.03m/100kg guy I greatly appreciate this post.

Mark Rippetoe's chin-up protocol for fixing Golfers Elbow

@redverse Yeah, my knee tendon on the inside (don’t know the name) hurt during squats a couple months ago and I noticed that when I focused on keeping my foot archer an my knees pushed outside even more than I was already doing it didn’t hurt that much. So I focused on that for a couple weeks...

At 42, it took a pandemic to get me going...but I’m about 8 weeks in and loving it

@bellec Really awesome to read this @bellec. You basically have to find the fun in training at one point in your life and then you’re hooked. Just imagine how great you’ll look and feel in 5 years. I’m really happy that I have started my fitness journey early. I’m 24 now and I’m pretty strong...

Please critique my programme: moving from the RR to SM's PPL

@reallylongnickname Yeah, I stepped off the RR a long time ago. I just create my own full body routines with the exercises that I like/want to get better at. Sometimes I plan on doing XYZ, then when I get to Z I find myself completely drained already, so I either just scrap Z the next session or...

Please critique my programme: moving from the RR to SM's PPL

@reallylongnickname Ah, right. Thanks for clarifying. I read max reps as going to failure, which definitely is not recommended to do daily. But if it’s just to get a little extra volume in, then it’s probably fine. Concerning the 5 sets, you are right now doing 5 sets per exercise, but per...

Please critique my programme: moving from the RR to SM's PPL

@reallylongnickname Okay, first of all, I have no idea who or what SM is, beside sadomasochism, but I’m guessing that’s not what you mean here. Secondly, your routine seems mostly fine, but I have some notes: 5 sets per exercise might be a bit much if you’re doing PPL. Maybe not though, could...

    3 month - 6 month progress post: RR only - (M/24/6'1) 155lbs-195lbs

@princysharma1990 Yes, exactly. Rings are much more challenging than I’d ever imagined. All exercises require enormous amounts of stability. So your chest is not producing much more force, your muscles just have to work together perfectly, that’s why it feels so tough. I’ve seen absolutely crazy...

    3 month - 6 month progress post: RR only - (M/24/6'1) 155lbs-195lbs

@mitz An right. Yeah, I do all my training in a little playground near my house. It has monkeybars, so I can do almost everything there. For exercises that need my rings to be high off the ground I bike a little further to a callisthenics park.

How I got the Full Front Lever

@jesusloverr This is a fantastic post and I am saving it. Since the gyms closed in December here I’ve had to transition from a mixed programme to a full callisthenics programme and I’ve seen some great improvements, but I seem to be hitting a plateau in the last couple of weeks. So perhaps it’s...
