    No joke post

@danield93 Swings and rowing use a similar set of muscles. That combo is going to be challenging to combine.

I can only think of one exercise that has entirely changed my life- the Hindu Squat

@travisqtc Actually, in the Matt Fury link the description is exhale down, inhale up, so that’s two votes for that vs one vote for the opposite

Mark Rippetoe's chin-up protocol for fixing Golfers Elbow

@rotsenibad The couple of times when I’ve had tendinitis in the past the physio had me do negatives as the main treatment. I always found that interesting.

I can only think of one exercise that has entirely changed my life- the Hindu Squat

@1haroldl In the two videos you linked, the breathing instructions are contradictory - in/out vs out/in. Does it matter?

Mark Rippetoe's chin-up protocol for fixing Golfers Elbow

@rotsenibad Same, the only time I’ve ever had elbow tendon pain was from high-volume chin-ups, and it went away when I stopped doing that routine.

    24kg or double 12s

@dmk741 I think ruling out double 16s or double 20s might not be the best approach. DFW is a double bell program after all. Double 12s sounds like a waste of time unless you struggle to press anything heavier. Having said that, your post explicitly states that you want to ignore all the advice...

    Dry fighting weight c&p question

@faith2 Cleaning before every press should allow you to get extra reps. And the clean itself is an exercise that gives you some hinge, back and bicep work.

    The Kneesovertoesguy

@19disciple44 The arm is not supposed to be used to pull the bell upwards, right? Therefore the only way to accomplish a swing is to impart forward momentum on the bell, and it then traces an arc upwards simply because it’s connected to your arm. To express force forwards, your hips travel...

    C&P with long arms

@kampell I recently had front shoulder tendon pain. The physiotherapist told me it was an impingement caused by my left shoulder being too far forwards during the press - ie poor posture. Exercises to improve that included pec minor stretching and external rotator cuff band exercises, and...

Calorie deficit -> Losing muscle mass. Calorie surplus -> Gaining fat. What to do?

@izzy1728 I’ve been doing a fitness and weight loss program for the last month that included 30-60 minutes of walking every day plus three moderate cardio sessions of 30-60 minutes and three strength sessions a week. I’m down 3.5 kg for the month

Enter the Kettlebell or Return of the Kettlebell?

@cglil Dunno, I bought the book years ago. It seems there used to be an accompanying DVD too. I just came across a website called functionalmovement.com which appears to have it available for download including the text and video.

Enter the Kettlebell or Return of the Kettlebell?

@cglil Pavel’s books are 90% stories, hyperbole and Russian tough guy schtick, and 10% exercise program. Seriously, the books are entertaining, but the actual content could be covered in five pages. If you want a bit more science, consider Kettlebells From The Center - Dynami by Gray Cook and...

DIY Pullup bar in backyard HELP

@cricketts Yes, I used galvanised steel plumbing pipes for mine - they came pre-threaded, allowing flanges to be screwed onto each end. Get the 30 or 35mm pipes - they’re more comfortable than the thicker ones. For the height, I like a bar at a height where I can reach up while on my tip toes...

I want to buy gymnastic rings, but I’m not sure where/how to mount them

@spacct In the past I have attached eye bolts to a door lintel beam, each secured with four screws, then attached the rings using carabiners. It worked well.
