Issues at the gym with 2 dudes

@austinjoel2001 Yeah, they are counting on you to be mild and turn the other cheek because it's not a real barrier to their behavior. Just tell them to knock it off. Don't ask them and be sweet. Tell them.

Fitness apps that don't emphasize weight loss?

@mommajack I have a much older watch so YMMV. You can just google how to do it and find Apple's knowledge base article. The instructions are public.

Fitness apps that don't emphasize weight loss?

@mommajack Apple Watch app on your phone -> Workout -> Workout View. Choose from the list and update as desired

Fitness apps that don't emphasize weight loss?

@anniecat chiming in to say you can customize which metrics are displayed on the watch during active workouts--so I think that anyone who wants to focus on the rest of their stats but prefers to avoid thinking about energy in terms of calories can hide that number.

    Workouts for REALLY weak woman?

@dawn16 The person you replied to wasn't talking about her weight at all, so why are you? sigh

Issues at the gym with 2 dudes

@firewolf1960 Oh my god no, this advice is needless escalation for two bad gymgoers out of their many clients. Adults should not go straight to leaving nasty google reviews without having a conversation with the business first. If they do nothing, then sure, leave the review. It's stupid to...

    I tried naked yoga today..

@relliott28 This is a really judgmental comment. I completely understand that American (making an assumption here) society is exceptionally puritanical so I'm sure you're only saying it because you've been programmed to. But there is nothing cultlike about being naked, nor anything hipster...

Gym employee hit on me and asked for my number.. do I mention how uncomfortable that makes me to a different manager?

@mamazluv Fucking gross, man. This kind of garbage turns women off from going. Considering that gyms are a male dominated space, you're basically telling the women here that they're going to be a target for the employees. Get some integrity if that's how you look at your clients.

How to manage work and muscle soreness and fatigue?

@ohyoupokedme You might be underestimating your caloric needs. You haven't mentioned anything to indicate how you came to the conclusion of 1400 calories a day (e.g. height, weight, which certainly could account for it), but like, girl that is low. I'm 5'6" and 1400 calories a day is my BMR...

Because of my training, my clothes are starting to no longer fit

@countrygurl32 Speaking as a size 8 (who enjoys yoga), you being a size 8 and comparing yourself to the guy who said lifting made him "too big to function" is really insulting. It's also total bullshit. There are a lot of big bodies (actually big bodies, size 20s, not 8s) out there that are...

Beginner (again) deadlift form check please! :)

@knsokamd Resetting just means remembering and doing all the same cues you do when you start the set. Brace core, pack lats.

"What Animal Do You Lift?" is back online!

@readerjoseph all my lower body work is basically on hold while I wait for surgery for a labral tear and FAI. I've been really bummed, but seeing that I can lift a moose calf or giant armadillo makes me feel a bit better about it. :)

Gym employee hit on me and asked for my number.. do I mention how uncomfortable that makes me to a different manager?

@markvs Why are you concerned with being nice to this guy? Ask yourself that. Really think deeply about it. You don't have to tell me the answer, but you owe it to yourself to figure it out. Why are you choosing to make yourself uncomfortable to baby some stranger's feelings? Do you think you...

[MOD NOTE] r/xxfitness was hacked, and is temporarily private

@syriacjohn I think it's less about convincing people and more about invading spaces with the image/idea as if to say, "get used to it, there's nothing you can do" or something.

Study: Back Squat produces better glute growth than hip thrust

@dawn16 I agree; the "well-trained women" sample size is definitely more limited. It took me about a year of squatting to really understand glute activation for that movement. Now I definitely feel sore after squats alone, but if I'm being honest with myself I don't think I'd have gotten to that...

Low-Impact exercises that aren't boring AF?

@ejc420 Rowing machine! I too need low-impact cardio workouts, and those are my favorite. I used to be a huge fan of stationary cycling, but it's too much hip flexion when I have a desk job. Plus, with rowing, you can compete with yourself--I do sets of 500m and try to keep it within a certain...

Do you guys have opinions on Wendler's "North of the V**" concept?

@cz1611 I definitely don't think that's a common thought amongst male lifters. I think that there's a percentage of gym rats that are bros like that because there's a percentage of the greater male population that's like that. But personally, I would be really shocked to hear that kind of thing...
