Can’t lose weight. Sinong specialist ang need kong puntahan?

TL;DR: Gained about 40 kilos of weight this year because of steroidal drug. Now I can’t lose weight despite all the effort. I’m depressed. Sinong doctor dapat kong puntahan?

About me: 111 kilos, 168cm, limited mobility due to my weight, arthritis. Wears 2XL.

Been hitting the gym for almost 8 weeks straight. First 4 weeks, ni-limit ko yung calories ko to 2100 pero ngayon nasa 1600-1800 na lang ako. Started to consume about 90-100g of protein(can’t afford to consume more because of kidney and money issues) per day.

Clothes started to fit better sa upper half ng upper body pero my big tyan stays the same hindi man lang lumiit then fitted pa rin ang size 42 pants ko.

Routine assuming na tama yung calories sa apple watch ko:

4x a week isolated muscle exercise. Calories burned per day: 500~600

7x a week 3-5k lakad per day. Calories burned per day: 500~600

3x a week 1hr swimming. Calories burned per day:600-700.

Food intake: Shifted to boiled food na ako like boiled chicken, fish, egg, and veggies. Fatty liver free since December 2023 because of that.

On average siguro 1000 calories nabuburn ko per day pero bakit ganun hindi pa rin di ako pumapayat?

Nadedepress na ako actually kasi I gained about 40 kilos ata this year alone dahil sa steroidal drug which I took when I’m in deep pain sa sakit ko. Hindi ko na siya maburn :(

Simple answer. Hindi accurate ang watch mo, not even close. Dont' believe it. Walang kwenta yan magestimate. Sobrang dami pang pwede sabihin but just to be clear no one needs to use calories burned as a metric to track to help weightloss.

Sadly you're better off not even looking at the calories burned in any smart watch. This is the worst thign you can do especially if you're using them to subtract to your calorie intake. Count only intake and use the changes sa body scale to make adjustment.

I repeat. Do not subtract your burned calories to your intake since this WILL MAKE YOUR TRACKNG INACCURATE

Accuracy of wearables when tracking calories burned is BS.

Go see a certified nutrition expert.
 
@tony2468 Yun nga mababa kumpyansa ko sa calorie counter ng smart watch. Thanks for educating me. Unfortunately, I can’t afford ata magconsult sa nutritionist right now.

@mrpower84 You are OVERESTIMATING yung calories na naburn mo. I think 5k steps walking is only about 200 calories burned dude, 500 calories na yan na overestimate mo.

Most probably yung calorie measurement ng kinakain mo at iniinom mo ay hindi rin accurate.

How's your sleep? Puyat is a big no no. It decreases your metabolism, bmr and NEAT.

BUT DONT GIVE UP! Kayang kaya mo yan. Ganyan talaga trial and error. Observe, measure then adjust every week.
 
@mrpower84 IF with calorie deficit. Yung sakin non in a span of 3mos kitang kita mo weight loss. Nagtitimbang din ako ng food with calorie count 😅

Usually im- endocrinologist pinupuntahan if you think it's hormones related yung weight gain.
 
@mrpower84 Just curious if you have a healthy diet. Don’t count calories too much. Maybe, focus more on your diet since sabi mo nag-eexercise ka na, at intense pa yung exercise mo. Not all calories are equal, and we all have different ways to metabolize or spend our energy. Pero, you are asking a specialist.. hmmm, I am thinking of a dietician or nutritionist first, if not, a doctor who specializes on guts.
 
@mrpower84 Hi! I also take steroidal drugs for my heart issues. What my cardiologist and rheumatologist told me is that the side effects of steroidal drugs ay talagang lolobo ako. But it's not fat. It's mostly water being retained in muscles and skins.

No matter how much calories you burn or exercise you do, di mawawala yan until you stop taking medications for a long while.

One thing for sure tho is best to consult your doctors on how to approach your exercise and diet. I know my doctors told me to stop muna with my powerlifting, and do yoga muna or light exercises. Check your hormones from an endocrinologist din.
 
@mrpower84 nag omad ako at fasting nun pandemic. from 87 to 64 kg. binawas ko un sa isang taon. hnd kinaya . back to 75 ngayon. calorie deficit lang maintain ko na weight ko.
 
@mrpower84 Don't even count the calories that you burn; focus on the calories that you eat. Get a kitchen scale, measuring cups and be diligent on measuring everything.
 
@mrpower84 Mag fasting ka na lang. Maliban sa weight loss, gagaling pa or lalabas sintomas ng mga sakit na di mo alam na meron ka pala. Edi, maagapan mo magpa checkup pagkatapos.

Para di ka masyadong mahirapan sa withdrawal symptoms ng kape, sugar, etc., mag vegan diet ka temporarily bago mag fasting.
 
@mrpower84 Grabe ka mag measure ng calorie bro, ako basta maka 2rice+ulam a day hndi na ko kakain. Pass sa siomai coz ang taas ng calories lalo na sa pizza. Ayun simpleng calorie counting lang. I suggest mag fasting ka. Then try mo elliptical na cardio sa gym, more on sa hita ang tama nya kaya baka oks sa arthritis mo
