Right now I'm focusing on double C&J with 2×20 kg (my press 12RM or so), doing sets of 2-5 reps in a fixed time with the aim of increasing work capacity. So far I've gotten up to 73 reps in 20 mins, which is a fairly brutal workout.
I'm tempted to switch to single C&J with a 36 kg kb (which I can't strict press). As a test, I tried to C&J it for 15 minutes in sets of 2, and I managed 36 reps total (18 per side). It felt heavy but I enjoyed the challenge. I think I could have managed maybe 45 reps in 20 mins, but I was being conservative.
Does that mean it's too heavy for me right now?
I'm concerned I might get injured doing something dumb, especially considering I'm in my late thirties. If safe, is there a point to going so heavy, or am I better off staying at a lighter weight? Should I alternate light and heavy days?
