Exactly what the title says. Been vegan since 14, recently started taking my bmxing more seriously (just started kick boxing too) and am going to gym. I want to build up more muscle too. Really need some good/relatively cheap protien options!

@steveepperson Most reliable source of cheap protein is going to be tofu and seitan but seitan is something you have to make at home in order to lower cost. Ideally I’d recommend the vital wheat gluten method if you go that route. And make sure to add other protein sources such as tofu/chickpeas to your liquid base which can be accomplished by blending it along with your water/broth and seasonings. You want to look for the tofu with the highest firmness. The more firm it is the more protein it has. You can find blocks with 15g of protein per serving and 4.5 servings a block

Edit: split peas and lentils are also very good and cheap protein sources. And last but not least you have protein powder(obviously) but specifically you’ll want to buy an unflavored isolate. I get terrasoul foods pea protein. 15$ for 2 lbs/490ish(I don’t remember)grams of protein.

@thenatureguy vital wheat gluten itself is lacking in certain EAAs(lysine and isoleucine off the top of my head) I recommend it to people because a lot of people who ask about protein probably aren’t too knowledgable on stuff like that and usually aren’t too meticulous in their dieting so it just helps to alleviate that issue. Though you’d be fine if you are more than a couple of servings.

@steveepperson Beans and rice. Cheap and tasty. You can mix it up too. Black beans, red beans, etc. Pasta is cheap and has protein. Add in some seitan, or tofu and it's great.

BMX is gnarly. I skate and have always been around BMX too. I had friends that did both. I've got a lot of respect for it. Stick with it and have fun!
