Introducing Myself to you all. AMA

Girlfriend does figure, I do her training and nutrition, shes a weapon

I have been involved in Bodybuilding for about 3 years now. It quickly became my passion and was made a priority in my life. I do not consider myself big or exceptionally aesthetic but i am a bodybuilder and I will be big and exceptionally aesthetic in the future, I am commited to the long term.

Since then Bodybuilding has always been my thing. I don't do it to socialise or to show off at the beach or the club, I just want to eat, lift, grow and shred for the rest of my life. I want progression every year. I am hungry for it, as soon as i achieve a goal I've already set a new one.

I am a bit analytical to my approach but i do like to simplify evrything as much as possible. I follow evidence based training and nutrition advice and modify based on my own trial and error.

When I have the time I am constantly learning as much as I can in all relms of natural BB, strength and conditioning, body recomposition, nutrition etc. I take this shit way too seriously for the time it takes up in my life and the lack of monetary reward...but its all worth it for some reason

I've recently come onto reddit in the hope to share, learn, connect, teach and help all in the name of natural bodybuilding.

I guess I just wanted to introduce myself as i would like to be very involved in this group, if i can give something helpful i will, if you want to share something ill listen, I'll give you my honest opinion and I'll always be respectful and constructive with any criticism i may have.

@michael1997 Good to have a new active member on the sub who has competed. The AMA post is typically reserved for those who have really achieved something though (no offence). Keep at it though man, time to put on some size and bring those lifts up!
 
@dawn16 Thanks man. Yeah no worries I'm a noob when it comes to reddit. But I guess all i meant is if anyone wants to get to know me further I'm happy to delve into more details about myself for anyone that may be interested.
 
@michael1997 You've still got a while before you hit your peak I'd say, possibly another 5-10kg to gain. I'm surprised you chose to compete with such a gap regarding your peak because I assumed most people who competed were at least 90% (often closer to 95%) of all their measurements (see http://www.weightrainer.net/bodypred.html to calculate your likely maximum measurements).

Calf 14.4 inch
Thigh 20.5 inch (half way between crease of hip and patella)
Glute 38.5 inch
Umbilicus 31.4 inch
Chest 38.5 inch
Biceps 14 inch
 
@michael1997 Yeah thats what I was curious about. I suspected you were below 90% of your measurement ( a 90% for you would have been around a 15 inch arm, calculated by .90 X 16.5). Also that calculator assumes average genetics, so if you wish to assume higher amounts, you can use the other calculator which would give you larger measurements. According to Casey butt a 90% measurement looks similar to a fitness model and 95% resembles a moderate or seasoned bodybuilder. However those measurements are at 8-10% bodyfat and I assume dehydrated state (this was the condition of bodybuilders of the 1940's era used for its sampling). I assume that your measurements don't drop drastically between 5-10%.

Your ideal measurements are good for your height (remember the wrist measurement is measured with the hand open not closed). Calves being equal to arm size is very good, the current discrepancy between your current leg measurements and upper body measurements means you probably aren't working out your upper body enough.

EDIT: You might wanna consider competing next time when you are closer (or when you bulk to past) to those measurements predicted if you want a high chance of winning. You'll be best off chasing those numbers over the year than trying to stay lean enough to compete every chance possible.
 
@fargonic Yeah thanks for all this info man! Really interesting stuff. Yeah the comp prep was fun and i enjoyed being shredded but I know i need to spend much more time building before worrying about competing again. And thats the plan now. I'm giving myself atleast 2 years of building.
 
@dbaileys Thanks man. Gonna be a couple or so more years untill the next one. Really takes it out of you mentally and physically. Im just lucky enough to have a fast metabolism so my calories never went below 2500 and carbs were still 300g. I still felt like absolute shit by the end though!
