Kettlebell weight recommendation

@theheretic If you live within driving distance of a sporting goods store, go in and try some of the weights so you don’t have to guess. I actually bought my first KB (16k when I was 34, also in good shape already but different goals than you) directly from the store, and it’s been fine. I prefer the rogue bells I ordered online, but if you’re unsure about weight and your goals might require very different weights (deadlift and halo), you definitely want to do the best you can in balancing. Halos have a low ceiling, deadlifts have a high floor.

My guess for weight: best would be an adjustable 12k-32k (Bells of Steel has a nice one), or get either a 20k /24k for halos + set of magnetic 2.2k clip-ons to get it up to 24k/28k for swings. If you’re as in shape as it sounds like, the higher pair is where you’ll be in a year in any case if you keep at it, but you definitely don’t want to start too high.
