@dx70 You are thinking of power lifers who focus on strength, rather that bodybuilders, who focus on hypertrophy and that chiseled aesthetic look. Power lifers are a lot stronger than bodybuilders and pack a lot of muscle under those layers of fat.

In the end though, both have to work really hard to get where they end up. They need to learn a lot about training, food and nutrition, importance of rest and sleep and about their own body for the results they want.

The ONLY natural way to get a visible six pack is get your body fat below about 10% (for males) and to have a good physique where the abs become visible. The alternative is to go on steroids. The six pack also comes with health challenges of its own, like low testosterone.

Even bodybuilders do not maintain a six pack all year round. They get it during competitive season and focus on a bulk for rest of the year when their abs are covered by fat.

You are overthinking this. Just get to the gym and start lifting heavy weights. Then start counting your calories and macros strictly and you will see a way forward.
