A calorie is not a calorie??

@reddragon4444 I ate almost no processed foods for a couple months recently and let me tell you, it's difficult to eat enough. I was eating so much fiber and the meals were so large in volume that I was never hungry and I didn't even want to eat by my fourth meal of the day. I think there's a healthy balance to be found.

@reddragon4444 A calorie is simply a unit of how much energy is produced when that item is burnt. It's also measured in Joules.
So yes a calorie is a calorie just like a metre is a metre.

Is a calorie from processed food different than from unprocessed? No.

Are the nutrients different?

Maybe, just like a milkshake isn't a bacon sandwich. Do they both produce calories though? Yes. Do they both provide carbs? Yes. Do they both provide fats? Yes. Protein? Yes.

Is one healthier than the other? Depends on the ratio of the makros and what your dietary goals are.
