Anyone else carry their weight really disproportionately?

@gggg1111 Oops sorry didn’t realize I was in the petite fitness sub ( I’m in both petite fitness and glp-1s sub) . Glp-1s can help but if you do have lipedema the fat will be stubborn just know that going in . And you may lose and get down to your goal wait but have hard fat deposits that will be have to be removed surgically .
Definitely google lipedema and lymphedema if you haven’t already .

Also I’m a bit older and have struggled with this most my life . I have found HIIT and plyometrics along with a healthy diet does help with weight loss it’s probably the only thing that really helped me lose the weight in my legs . My other family members have noticed this as well . HIIT is effective just hard to sustain long term.

@kosmofilo Ah, ozempic and such are not free here unless one has diabetes. I am on metformin for IR.
I will try to lose weight and see how it goes, I am overweight. I can easily lose and gain weight everywhere, I just have the typical pear shaped bone structure and weight pattern. I yo-yo’d a lot in my 20s and i can tell even a 2 lbs gain/loss by my underwear fit, lol (also my tummy and face, tbh). Can it only ever be lipaedema? 🥺 I got cellulite since forever, now I am worried maybe it is more, though it always improved visually with weight loss (or is that the same for lipaedema? Oh well, still a win!). At least i hope it just in a mild stage…

What dr specialty should i ask for details? I read maybe a vein doc?

@gggg1111 Oh idk maybe try searching for lipedema specialist in your area on google . A vein dr may be able to help but they too may not have the understanding or education to properly diagnose you; really just depends on the dr and whether they’ve kept up with research … . I have heard that the drs in the UK are a lot more aware of this condition if you’re in the UK . The states is much harder . I’ve heard of people flying to other states to see a dr and figure out if they do indeed have this condition . In early stages it’s hard to tell and maybe better able to control the weight but as you age typically the weight will pile on and very hard to lose so sometimes it’s good to figure out early . And stay at the early stages with the direction of the specialist how to do so .
If you’re able to lose all over keep going .sounds like you just may be pear shape. and yes normal people have cellulite and it is genetic. But idk I’m not a specialist. Typically (not always) lipedema is weight gain in lower half and extremely hard to lose it . Like I will lose weight in my upper portion and can look almost anorexic on the top (xxs) trying to lose that weight on the bottom that I’m still a size 10 . It’s a weird condition . Literally look like two different bodies Put together . Even rn at my highest weight ever I’m a med top xl bottoms I have a flat stomach from the front and side . My friends and colleagues I found out recently thought I wore shapers everyday . (Came abt talking abt weddings and I told them I never wear them they’re so uncomfortable and hard to use the restroom to which they all thought I did bc my flat abs )

@kosmofilo 🤗 Thank you, kind stranger. I will search, I live in Eastern Europe 🫣.
The thing that worries me about having it is i’ve always had thick/chubby ankles and knees. 😩 they reduce in size with weight loss, ofc, but never became bony. I just thought pear shapes are like this.

I just hope it is in an early stage. I don’t feel hard nodules, no spider veins, at least.

Now i am paranoid that my new cellulite (I gained 45 pounds in a year in 2021 but procrastinatated losing) on my upper body (when i squeeze, pull) is this spreading. 😭

I am sorry you cannot lose on your lower half. 😞
I do, but the pear proportion stays similar, if a bit more equal/straighter/much less bumpy legs when i lost before.

At least you got a silver lining with your waist! 🥹

@gggg1111 Also i don’t think many of the glp-1s are free… but wegovy and zepbound are approved for weightloss . A person doesn’t need any other medical conditions besides being overweight . There might be a bmi to meet but just letting you know that two of the meds out there are approved for weightloss.
If you’re on metformin already that may help you with weightloss too as I’ve heard some people do lose while on that . Hope the side effects aren’t to bad for you .
The one thing I’ve noticed is that my family and I don’t have big appetites comparatively to those of our weight and size but gain a lot especially women in the lower half most these meds are appetite suppressants so they might not work for some . But they do have meds in trials that are promising that work also with metabolism and fat burn that maybe more promising for lipedema pts that don’t struggle with appetite but just fat burn - they just aren’t here yet :/

@kosmofilo Thank you! It could be different in my country. But ofc one can buy glp-1s if they afford to.

🥹 I hope I will and hope you do, too.
I have a good appetite, oopsie, i actually want to switch my antidepressant as i barely started it and gained 4 pounds in 2 months. Wellbutrin should work better…

Interesting news about the meds! I hope they get on the market soon! ☺️

@frances69 Oh yeah. I'm very pear-shaped, and I'm not really wide if you look at me from the front, but from a side view i have a big pregnant-looking belly. s/m in tops, 14/16 bottoms. 4"11 165lb 😅

@frances69 I’m almost the exact same make up and weight. Bottoms are the same. Tops I do range because boobs. I carry all my weight in my stomach. It’s awful and makes shopping hard. Add in being short too. It’s the worst.

@frances69 I’m like two different people waist up vs waist down. I have a petite frame, so my arms and stomach are lean with muscle but my thighs are just covered in fat still. I walk, weight lift and do Pilates but it’s slow going. I’ve lost 20 lbs - down to 120 w/ 25% body fat - so while I’m shrinking, my thighs have a lot of fat still with cellulite on the fronts and back. It’s genetics but I’m doing my best to stay focused on my progress and keep plugging away.

@frances69 Yup! 5'1, 115lbs, and my boobs are 28GG (and that's probably the wrong size as my bras don't fit quite right). The rest of me is "proportional". I hate the back pain and the struggle to find tops that fit correctly.
