How does progressive overload ACTUALLY work?

@brianlee3271 Yeah, at the beginner level, you should probably forget the deload week stuff.

Just every few weeks, increase the number of reps, then every month or so, increase the weights a bit.

Rinse and repeat.

Oh, and eat more. Gotta be in a surplus to make gains.
 
@brianlee3271 I couldn't read all that, friend. You just started lifting. Just lift heavy weights for now and push your sets. Don't worry about it.

After a few years, worry about it a little. I've been lifting for over 10 years and I've never really worried about it (I do very much look like I lift). I've always just lifted heavy weights and pushed my sets. The reps and weight just naturally went up.
