Definitely disagree with this. I feel good and have energy on a PSMF and doing OMAD, I'm definitely not gaining anything then.
The maingaining doesn't clarify, it muddles things and is used to sell useless stuff to ignorant noobs.
Your body will tell you when your calories are too low. If you have energy for the workout and feel good you will build muscle.
