Second Run of DFW

Hey y’all. Running DFW for the second time. The first run was a single 24 for the C&P and a single 32 for the FS. Just ran the first day again using double 24’s and I’m feeling pretty good.

If anyone is reluctant to start DFW because of the recommended load, maybe try what I did. Doing 5 weeks of C&P(alternating hands) and FS only really allowed me to fine tune my techniques, my stance, and how I was bracing.

I thought I’d be missing snatches and running complexes but the brutally simplistic program of DFW has me hooked. Thinking about running the wolf next as the first time I tried that I failed out halfway through the first set. I knew the load wasn’t right and I didn’t have a good enough base, but I see it as totally obtainable as long as I see this next run of DFW through.

No real point to this point aside from a little progress report. Thanks to one of my absolute favorite subreddits; y’all are killers and machines and I want to be just like you when I grow up.

@den12 On my first run with double 24s. Ladders and sets of 3 consistently are so brutal. The double C&P is tough but the double FS is a monster. One good thing is after doing ABC for a month, Double FS has gotten much more manageable. Keep it up man!

Can you expand on what part of the load causes concern? You are supposed to work with your Press 5RM weight and rest as much as you need so I don't see how that would be problematic but I'd like to understand.

@juancarlos It’s mostly a lack of weight options for me. At the moment, all I have are two 24’s and a 32 with no access to others through a gym or anything. So my FS wasn’t quite up to snuff for double 24’s but I could C&P doubles. I figured I could allow myself time to really focus on single C&Ps for technique and run the 32 for my FS to build up strength.

@den12 Okay sure, one may need to train a bit to get to 5 RM first. For me squat was never an issue apart from not being taxed as much as they should be when limited by press strength but yeah, it definitely can go either way.
