Is 30 too late to aim for an ‘athletic body’?

@norman70 No way. In 2012 going into 2013 I was quite the mess from a health standpoint as well as just fat at 38. I lost somewhere between 30-40 Lbs in the later part of 2012 and through the summer of 2013. From there I continued to lift regularly using good, structured programming and mostly...

Do y’all drink protein shakes on days you don’t work out?

@londonmum I assume you aren't a beginner to fitness as the OP is and that you're not working the same muscles and groups on consecutive days. OP is asking about shakes on a day off...obviously he's still trying to figure things out which is why I asked him and not you.

Is 500/month a general cost for a fitness and health coach?

@babychristian10 No way in hell I'd pay that much. I had an in-person trainer at $50 a pop once per week and he did get me into the best shape I've been in since the military and it was worth it for awhile, but even that got a little rich for my blood after awhile, especially since I pay...

I started working seriously 7-8 months ago, I feel weak if I dont eat like every 3-4 hours or so

@enochnaki You need calories (energy) just to merely exist. You need calories (energy) to go about your day to day. You need calories (energy) to support your workouts. You need calories (energy) to grow muscle mass. You need calories (energy) to support additional muscle mass. You need calories...

How do you accurately know how many calories you’re burning?

@donna8558 If your Apple watch works like my Garmin, those are total calories thus far for the day, not just specifically from exercise. Like it includes your BMR calories, your NEAT calories, and your EAT calories. That's what my Garmin gives me and the next day I can see what my TDEE was for...

Help a beginner out... Tell me why m[28]y workout routine sucks!

@moonmonkey Full body programs focus on compound movements and maybe a couple of accessory movements...generally 5-6 movements in total. A well written full body program should take no longer than 45-60 minutes, generally 3x per week. If you do a push/pull or even an upper/lower body split you...

Help a beginner out... Tell me why m[28]y workout routine sucks!

@moonmonkey A structured 3x per week full body program written by a professional would yield better and more efficient results. Ideally you want to hit each muscle group at least twice per week. There are numerous solid, professionally written programs in The Fitness Wiki posted by the bot mod...

r/Fitness Basic Beginner Routine - Why squats and deadlifts at the end of the workout?

@chery49 Right now we're usually done in about 45 minutes or so but we're starting off very conservative with our weights since my boy has never lifted, and I've been out of the weight room for about 4 years save for here and there. We want to maximize the linear progression and also make sure...

r/Fitness Basic Beginner Routine - Why squats and deadlifts at the end of the workout?

@chery49 With that particular routine and things like the Starting Strength program, the order doesn't matter that much as all of the lifts are big lifts (compounds). It matters more when you get into a more intermediate or advanced routine that has higher volume, more accessory work, etc...

Is this a good workout routine?

@megalovaniac Take a look at the Fitness Wiki that is posted by the AutoMod and find a weight training program that seems to be a good fit for you. Running a structured program is going to be far more efficient than trying to program your own workout, particularly as a beginner. These programs...

    Ppl or full body

@petronela For 3x per week stick to full body...with a 3x per week Ppl you're really only hitting your muscle groups once per week...ideally you'd want to hit them twice per week minimum unless you're more advanced and just kind of in maintenance mode.
