@graced1257 Horse stance as a static exercise? I did this all the time for karate; it is no where near as difficult as a hard skip. Am I misunderstanding the exercise?
@graced1257 That's Traditional Kung fu training. Try Jump on Horse. Start in horse stance, then like a jumping jack, explode upright. Then rapidly spread the legs out and sink into Horse Stance. Do that at the pace of quick jumping jacks. You might want to google Quan Ma as well.
@graced1257 My kungfu teacher knew a ton of progressions/alternatives, some related to qigong. There was one called dragon stance or something that nobody in our class could hold for even a minute. He could do it indefinitely, of course.
Edit: like this, but with each arm straight out horizontally. I think fully turned at the waist too.
@graced1257 This will be part of my Black Belt grading. 45min-1hr hold. Not looking forward to starting to train for it - tried several times and have given up
@graced1257 I can hold a horse stance far longer than I can hold a plank. I don’t mind horse stance as it is part of the Tai Chi and Kung Fu forms that I learned. What are planks good for? Making pushups easier? Ugh!
