working out on company time

So I finally found my happy place… I’m currently doing a PPL split but I hate working out in the mornings (zombie!) and in the evenings I want to relax… So now I will do my routine on my home gym during work hours while working from home… I’m sure my employer wouldn’t be too happy but to heck with them I give them excellent quarterly results.

Currently I will do one set, then back to work (equivalent to a 3-five minute rest) and repeat for four sets x 4 to 6 exercises per session.
It takes quite a while to get through the entire routine over the course of my work day but it also makes me feel amazing during work and invigorates me when I would normally start crashing at 2 PM. I find it also helps keep stress levels very manageable while dealing with all sorts of work stressors. Also doing this has not negatively impacted my performance at all if anything it’s greatly improved it!

@hkwh2019 Do you have set hours? Are you missing meetings or blocking off time on your cal? Your employer shouldn't care if you're WFH, getting your work done, and are available as necessary esp. if something critical is going down...

Glad you found something which works great for you

@sharkbait13 nah not too often… Weekly and monthly… sometimes being an individual contributor has its benefits especially working from home. as long as my KPI is on target I’m pretty much left alone. which honestly I think is the best way to manage.

@antponetteoaks I thought the same initially but you’d be surprised. One set then review request & initial investigation of request, second set, review further & action request etc. pretty much the same with deliverables. I do have two in office days that I do the typical grind and catch up ;3

@hkwh2019 I've told my employers and they've always supported my training even when it overlapped with work hours. I mean, other people take lunch breaks or spend time at the watering closest? This obviously applies to engineering or sales where you're salaried and measured by results--not to a nurses or sous chefs!

@neveralone96 there’s actually some surveys from top employers about how they are starting to look at paying employees to exercise… Preliminary investigative stuff for pilot projects obviously but it’s kind of nice to see.

@hkwh2019 I work from home and workout 2x per week in my home gym around 11 which I block off. If I have important meetings or work to do where I need thst time, I’ll just workout another time on that day but 90% of the time it works great.

@hkwh2019 I workout from home during my lunch hour. I don’t see a problem with it since I would take longer breaks while at the office pre-COVID, taking an hour for lunch, two or so 20 minute walking breaks, office chatter, etc.

@hkwh2019 Why not block off your calendar for your lunch break and do it then? That's what I do - there's nothing fishy about exercising during your legally deserved break time
