Wondering if anyone else carries their weight in a similar way. I’m 5’2, 180lbs and wear a size small/ medium in tops and dresses, but I’m a size L/XL/14 in bottoms.
@frances69 All my fats go to my lower half. Thick thighs and calves. Really insecure but learning to love it by wearing dress or short. So far, im loving it.
@frances69 I’m 5”0 and have D boobs. Apart from that all my fat goes to my belly and I look six months pregnant if I don’t watch what I eat. I’m shaped like a damn snowman.
@babygems Dying at the Michelin man. this is exactly how I'm built. My weight goes straight to my thighs and belly but I'm a B cup and have small small arms and calves. Haha.
@frances69 Yup! 5’0, 165 lbs and my hips and butt are where most of my weight sits. All of the women in my family have similar body types. I always feel very self conscious when I see photos of myself from a side angle.
@frances69 I definitely think all my weight goes to my thighs! I'm a huge walker and I feel my legs and butt are really in good shape and I'm happy with them. But these THIGHS. I feel I'd have to be seriously underweight before my thighs ever shrink. I don't even care about the aesthetics--I just would love to be able to walk without wearing shorts under my dresses!
@freethinkerwwjd Yes! I’ve been taking measurements as I’ve been losing weight and my thighs and calves haven’t budged at all but I’ve shrunk everywhere else, even in my wrists
@frances69 So both my parents were absolutely AWFUL about my weight growing up to the point that I do have serious issues with my body image. (Looking back at photos--I was never heavy and they were crazy.) I got to the point that I stopped wearing a bathing suit around my parents because every time I did, my dad (who died when I was in high school so I was really young when this happened) would comment on how my thighs rubbed together and that meant I was too fat.
I've had a few summer walks when I didn't wear shorts under a dress, gotten the dreaded "chub rub", been in pain from that and then remembered my dad's words and have gotten so upset.
I've had a really stressful year and have dropped some weight. People have told me I've gotten too skinny, asking if I am okay, etc. I've also been walking at least 10 miles a day most days (walked 19 yesterday!). My legs are SO strong and shapely, I know that--and guess what--my thighs STILL RUB TOGETHER and I know always will. It's hard not remembering my father's words and thinking I must need to lose weight.
@frances69 Yes, everybody tells me I don’t need to lose weight. That’s because you’re looking at me from the front and focused on my size 2 shoulders and boobs. From my side or rear view, you see the size 10-12 bottom. It is nice for dress shopping, but terrible if you want to find a one piece swimsuit.
I’m 5’2 or 5’3, I really need to measure my height, I was arguing with my family this past weekend about it and we couldn’t agree
@frances69 Every person here needs to research lipedema. It's an extremely under-diagnosed condition that most women don't look into because society taught them that excess fat is always a personal moral failure.
Edit: also, apple-shaped girlies need to look up Cushing syndrome.
@fee93 I was going to say this .
I have similar weight distribution ( s/ m tops and lg/xl bottoms ) I’m very curvy everyone actually thinks I way less than I do bc I’ve learn to dress my body and carry my weight well. And very popular with partners who are into curvy️ bodies . But it was also a problem with getting help from drs … and pretty sure I have lipidema however Kaiser doesn’t have many drs who recognize it or are familiar with it so yeah.
But if you have a ppo or cash to get tx definitely research lipedema and search out a specialist who can help you on that path along with your weightloss journey. I believe the surgeries needed are specialized due to the condition. So you can’t just go to any surgeon for your excess skin or liposuction if needed after weightloss .
I’m pretty sure I read somewhere these medications do help those with lipedema but we also still may struggle due to the condition. Just Keep going .
@kosmofilo There are also studies you can sign up for to help further research so we can get more treatment options and better educated doctors in the future
