@jonjones229 I love watching the games but hate the forced storylines the announcers keep trying to shoehorn in. It's exciting enough without it. Medeiros didn't stay close to Mat because he's some fearless rookie while everyone else was gaming it. He is just better at the event then the other 3 guys lol.
Same with Adler on the Total. They were acting like he had some big mental breakthrough. No, he's just a strong dude.
@jacknorth Similar thing for H Adams...that she’s an underdog, not strong, that she’s young, etc. I am not surprised at all when she does well in events (beat Katrin on the total). She’s a beast and impressive outside of her age! CrossFit is trying so hard to push that narrative because they have no other story
@jacknorth Yea it's a weird thing they emphasize on. You're not really a rookie unless you've never competed before. Madeiros has, same with any of the other past "rookies". There's something to be said about gaining experiencing IN competing against high caliber athletes over time (making "rookie mistakes" early on), but that doesn't rule a first time competitor from doing well. That's kinda why they made it there.
