Mark Rippetoe says: she needs to be placed in sexual slavery

@meow69 Thank you for bringing this to our attention. SS is what got me into weightlifting. I never really followed his presence online so I had no idea.

I don’t think it’s offtopic, I don’t think you’re overthinking it. This is important to know. How can you trust someone’s training advice for your gender if that’s what he thinks?! All I knew prior was that he didn’t really highlight how women should train differently for strength. Now I’m going to really, consciously, focus on other coaches/specialists/etc that actually give a damn about all genders (and people)!

I’m still floored. Just wow.

@meow69 Never heard of the guy but I always heard bad reviews about starting strength in general that boil down to "very bad programing and concepts". I don't think anything of value was lost

@meow69 A female oly lifter and coach who used to train at his gym has described Rip keeping a shotgun in his gym and being excited to bring it out when a black guy showed up to train, so we can add $h!tty r@ci$t to the list as well. This was from at least 10 years back, although I can't find the post right now.

Edited to exclude the coach's name

@judd That's really f-ed up.

I feel like he'd always tread the line carefully about POC specifically while still attacking immigrants (legal and undocumented) in general, so it's not surprising to hear that in real life he's much more clear about where he stands.

With racists. He stands with racists.

@meow69 Yeah, he's been known to be awful for a while. Also, fun fact, years ago he wrote terrible (rapey) erotica under a pseudonym and apparently you'll get banned if you mention it on his forums

@xelador If you go look in the YouTube comments and the reddit thread linked in the video description, it turns out he is too dumb to remove his email signature from posts.

@birddseedd I love but also hate that this gets brought up. It's Mark Rippetoe's fantasy rape porn. He hates women. Thank you for posting this, I can't believe there are women out there who support the Starting Strength brand.

@volcanoinsurance I'm the same. SS seemed to be a trusted resource at the time, and reading through it gave me confidence to go to the gym by myself. So glad I learned about this so I don't ever recommend any of his stuff.

@meow69 No you are over thinking this. And first off I wanna thank you. I can’t tell you how grateful I am and touched that you’re I want to say a normal human being, a standup individual that understands when people are being taken advantage of, and Debra gated and have an ism attached to them. Whether it’s racism sexism ageism, it’s difficult for a lot of people to actually stand up out loud and verbally to the world. There’s a lot of fear around this because they’re afraid they won’t be liked. They don’t want to stir the pot they don’t want to cause waves. But you’re brave you have courage you spoke up your ask questions. And I believe that’s all supposed to do. Have compassion and empathy for everyone on this planet.

I think what he’s doing is, I think it’s horrible. But I don’t think it’s so incredibly out of the norm. Unfortunately, I think a lot of people think something along this line, but most don’t speak up about it at least not to degree that he does. That’s the part that’s so incredibly disheartening. I mean look at sexual salt, child, molesting, abuse to children, women men, it’s not getting any less. I don’t believe so not statistically anyway. The hatred and animosity is growing, the ignorance, and not understanding others. It’s painful. And I believe it truly comes from religious and cultural dogma. It’s a way that they keep us separate at odds with one another not joining and unity. Not working together. But arguing fighting amongst one another because as long as we’re doing that we can’t be one and then fight against them. Them being the politicians people in charge the religious leaders whoever it is who is handing down ridiculous policies that only hurt that are meant to control. We’re brainwashed from the moment we walking to school. The school isn’t meant to teach us. It’s meant to brainwash us to make us good little soldiers to do is said only to think with the teachers to think, and to not think outside of the box. And he fell right in line. So sad it really is so you’re not wrong nobody should be sold into slavery not sexual slavery not any kind of slavery. It’s horrific nobody has that right and it still happens. And we as United States still act, like we have some kind of sovereignty over others, like somehow, we’ve wiped our hands clean of the horrible deeds we’ve done. And now we hold other countries accountable for the shit we’ve done in the past. It’s so twisted. And wrong I’m sorry if it seems like I got off on a tangent, but it’s all related it really is, anyway, I hope you have a good night and you are an amazing human being. Thank you so much for noticing and speaking up.

@ulytav Do you naturally talk like a politician trying to convince the world he doesn't have skeleton in his closet, or you just naturally talk like a politician trying to convince the world you dont have a skeleton in your closet?
