HEY YOU,

Are you friggin' ready to show off pics of those sweet gains that you took in the bathroom, that muscle up you finally stopped chicken-winging, or those handstands that you're able to control for time?

Do you have other bodyweight fitness accomplishments you've made and want the world to know about because your friends and family can't appreciate how hard L-sit progressions are??

This is the thread for you to share all that and inspire others at the same time! I'm talking about another S-S-SU-SUNDAY SHOW OFF!!

Note that we aren’t limiting you to what we're discussing on the FAQ. Show us anything that blew your mind the moment you realized you had it. This may include aspects of: gymnastics, climbing, parkour, weight loss/gain, posture, etc. They are all more than welcome in this thread.

We also want to remind you that we've been sharing your content on @redditbwf on both Instagram and Twitter. Help us grow our sub's social media in order to reach out to non-Redditors across these other platforms!

Pics and videos from last week:
Keep up the great work everyone! These posts, along with the text-only reports, brought forth a lot of interesting discussions. Many of you, like: /@djflubbel, /@volunteergal, /@gustav, /@holdfast4yourlife, /@starfish49, /@blessed09, /@jazzy_j, /@truescott, /@perez1001, and /@prophetdavid only recently began working out consistently, reporting small victories that we are hoping flourish into great showoffs in the future! Some of you advanced folks hit a few PRs, like /@dave62 with his 100kg deadlift, or /@fromgenesistorevelation "learning a fuck-load" of stuff in his 7th or 8th week of yoga teacher training!

I look forward to another great show off thread and am excited to see what improvements you all have made, no matter how miniscule. You certainly have each and every one of our respect and encouragement for what you're working on. So post it!

Last week’s Show Off thread

Check out some of the previous Sunday Show Off threads for more inspiration! Archives here and here.

As always, many of us are on the IRC and would love to meet our BWF brothers and sisters, wherever you're from!

@manatus22 hey dolomite!

Man! You totally launched & DESTROYED that 20kg like it was HELIUM! Brilliant speed, power and ROM!

Ps - You remind me of a young Reinhold Messner - the greatest climber of all time. (That's a good thing!)

@michaelphemo Thanks! Actually I have met (using the word lightly) Messner! He lives not far from me... I couldn't really say much to him though because my German sucks. He's a very interesting man.

@manatus22 No way! Are you actually in the Dolomites (hence 'dolomiten'?!?)

That is huge! Man!; start cramming on your German - he would have so much priceless experience-proven facts/info (nutrition, psychology, technique, BW/strength/fitness training etc etc ) that it is utterly insane. Insane.

Great story;
cheers.

@michaelphemo Yeah, I live in South Tyrol...

German or no German he probably wouldn't share his training tips with me, he actually isn't the most approachable man in the world. Certainly a dinosaur who is worth listening to or reading about when you get the chance though.

Hopefully I would never benefit from his psychology tips (how to get off a mountain when your brother dies and later come back to conquer it) and his other advice is all a bit mountaineering specific. I climb a little but a LONG way off the standard where Messner would have anything other to say than "you suck, climb more".

Observing his business lessons would likely be just as fascinating. He has marketed and capitalised on his success more than most. He is a very sharp man! He was more or less the first man to truly conquer the mountains and even now much more specialised climbers are slowly outperforming his individual feats few mountaineers will ever match him truly.

Edit: dolomiten is German

@manatus22 Hi Dolomiten - Fascinating info - thank you.
Yes; I am aware that he is a notorious cranky-pants and of the brother episode/issue... I have followed his career a little bit. But yes - maybe he is too grumpy! LOLZ!

On the other hand, I have had positive contact with Tim Macartney-Snape -an Australian adventurer who summited Everest in a most incredible manner - After first swimming in the Bay of Bengal, he walked thru India to summit Ev - (free-solo no supp 02 and with no sherpa support, then skied down) - he is a lovely guy - very friendly and giving of information....

cheers bro

@groo101 I managed to ditch my cheaty 1,25 kg plates under my palms while practicing L-sit. Now I can do 10x6s with both feet on the floor. As my BMI is merely 33,3 and I'm new to BWF, I quite like it. As I'm losing weight atm, it's only going to get better.

@groo101 A week or two ago I tried doing (wide) pushups on rings for the first time, and it felt really awkward (RTO on top especially). Yesterday I managed to do 3x6 pushups with elbows close to my sides, WITH RTO on top.

Also, did my first shaky dip on rings (can do a little more than 3x6 on chairs), and I can now do 3x7 chinups, though not from deadhang. (Still feels good seeing as at the beginning of december I could do about zero.)

@groo101 I hiked to this boulder that's used for rock-climbing and found this solid handhold about twelve feet off the ground that looked really good for flags. I proceeded to then hold a full flag straight off this rock for about ten seconds during which I had an amazing unobstructed view San Francisco. It all just reinforced my I love for body-weight work.
